this is by no ways the "correct" or "only" manner to draw optics. this is simply how i practise it.

Tools:
1.A4 Size newspaper : For laser printer/copy auto are recommended.
ii.Bluish pencil : For sketch and pose layout.
iii.0.5mm mechanical pencil : HB and 2B are recommended.
iv.0.3mm mechanical pencil : For detailing and tiny places.
5.Graph eraser : Like shooting fish in a barrel to clean upward. *important*

One.. Determine the pose and the action line in your mind. Then do a fast sketch of the pose with blue pencil or low-cal blackness pencil. You can ignore the detailed parts in this step . In the fast sketch, a wolf caput resembles two circles roofing one some other. Different angles have dissimilar sizes of coverage expanse; the side view of wolf caput looks like 1 rectangular and one circle covering each other some parts.

Ii.. Start to describe head in detail, accept reference from photos of animals. We will have Timberwolf as an example. The caput characteristic has raised ears, long muzzle and the surface area around eyes/cheek/lower muzzle has white fur. Before inking the final lines, we can erase or lighter sketch lines in the expanse yous wish to draw outset. It will make the drawing much neater this way.

Three.. Start to draw the torso muscles. The front end/rear view of muscle structure is shown as below.

4.. When the upper torso is finished, We tin can beginning to depict the lower body. Discover the hands and wolf'due south paw pads.

Five.. When cartoon the lower body, please observe the legs and feet. Have reference from brute photos or take detailed view of the beast. For wolves, they walk on their toes (digitigrade). And middle toes volition exist larger than side toes, Canines exercise non have retractable claws. When they are aroused or in defense position their back fur (hackles) will stand on stop to brand them look larger. If you don't wish to depict digitigrade, you can draw normal legs and foot (plantigrade). Retrieve to add claws.

Six.. When the whole body is finished, We can start to add the things like apparel or some small ornaments similar rings, and the shadows.

We can exercise more detailed parts and erase the useless lines, it will exist good for the future progress. (i.e. outline, add screen, paint, etc).

As I mentioned, the movie was done in Photoshop CS3 with a wacom tablet. And no, I have no idea about how long did it accept me. I never know how much time it takes me to finish a moving picture.

It's quite confusing, I know, but I'm not one for explaining things....I'm submitting this into the "Tutorials" category, only this is NOT supposed to be a tutorial. I merely thought it wouldn't fit into the "digital art" category :/. This only shows the mode I made this picture, footstep by pace. I release near of my pictures this manner, and the steps are more or less the same. So this will give you an thought of how I work, just in case someone was curious....This doesn't evidence all the little tricks I employ though .

But for these that may endeavor to utilise this as a tutorial: experience complimentary to try this technique, but don't try to make your pictures wait just like this....you'll find your own style, which will be unique and original, and probably better than mine . Experiment and try new things! I tried many techniques before I plant ane I was comfortable with.

Grayscale tutorial on how I exercise mos of my artwork. It's a simple yet effective way to draw fur and pretty much annihilation! This is for Photoshop, but I'chiliad sure skilled GIMP people could figure it out.

Coloring in a clipping mask is actually the fastest/easiest part of the tut. This makes it fun and its MUCH easier to blend the fur colors together.
When doing these steps (once you get the hang of information technology), you tin can make a werewolf in nearly two hours. That's why I apply this method the most.

I realized that I never did put together a full documentation of my creation of Vantage Point, even though I had all of the images. Since it has been brought into question a few times in the past if I am the actual creator of this piece, this is to assure you that yes, I AM. This is a bit of a testify-and-tell, a bit of a tutorial, and a bit of a territorial pissing. I created this piece, and this shows information technology footstep-by-step. I did not copy this from -annihilation- or -anyone-, this is purely from my own encephalon and creativity. Coming up with your own creation is what truly beingness artist is all about.

This is a progression of "Sacred Waters" as I worked on information technology over the weeks. I scanned information technology the beginning couple of times, and subsequently that I took pictures with the camera on my cell telephone since that is the only 1 I accept. So my apologies for crappy shots :P

1. Initial drawing with anatomy flaws.
ii. 2d revision with fixed anatomy flaws, though left leg needs work.
3. Final drawing revision where y'all tin see I fixed the left leg.
4. Beginning layers/washes of groundwork worked freehand (without a cartoon to go by, but reference photos).
v. Background worked upward, initial work on wolf begun.
half-dozen. Working up the wolf, blocking in accessories/weapons
vii. Continued working upwardly of fur
8. Continued working up of fur and accessories
9. Adding in plant and water details, refining of groundwork and problem areas
10. Finished piece which included a last minute addition of pots and fern to the lower correct to help the compositional flow.

There you go, the progress of an acrylic painting ^.^

Got this Fantastic tip from WeLostTheRibs
"I don't like setting the stabilizer above as it affects all the tools in SAI. so I double click the tool and fix a specific stabilizer and so that it affects that tool only (I utilise 5 because I similar to practise faster strokes with my arm...). I besides take pressure level stabilizer set for my inking tool (I have mine set to x).

As for other programs there is a programme out there called LazyNezumi people.happycoders.org/kamih/lazynezumi [Please note that at the betoken of posting the website isn't working, but I confirmed the website with google cache] which can simulate similar stabilizer actions for other programs such every bit photoshop. I've tried information technology out before and you have to tweak information technology till you get it to your liking.

The stabilizer is pretty much like slowing downward and "smoothing" your strokes."

and I nigh forgot! This shading style works in photoshops of all kind and with Paint Tool Sai. Don't know about Paintshop Pro or Pigment idea....

A new and improved fur tutorial, yay!
I chose to beginning in black and white and add together color later in the hopes that it would make information technology easier to run across what was going on with the fur texture.
Though I used a wolf as an case, this is actually merely a method, and could be applied to any creature or length of fur.
I'm using Photoshop CS, though I imagine it shouldn't exist also hard to accommodate this to other programs...
I am also assuming that a tablet will be used, and that the opacity and size sensitivity would be ON for all of this.
