The 2024 Washington gubernatorial ballot will be held on November v, 2024. The top-two principal will exist held on August six.

As Washington does not have gubernatorial term limits, incumbent Democratic Governor Jay Inslee will exist eligible to run for a fourth term.[1] Inslee has filed paperwork to run for reelection to a historic 4th term.[2]

Groundwork [edit]

Washington has not had a Republican governor since John Spellman left role in 1985, the longest streak of Democratic leadership of any state in the country and the third longest streak of i-party leadership after South Dakota (which has non had a Democratic governor since Harvey L. Wollman left office in 1979) and Utah (which has non had a Democratic governor since Scott Chiliad. Matheson left office nine days prior to Spellman in 1985).[3] [4] [5] Incumbent Governor Jay Inslee, who previously served in the U.S. House, was first elected to the governorship in the 2012 election and won reelection in 2016 and in 2020, by increasing margins each time. Co-ordinate to the Seattle Postal service-Intelligencer, it is probable that he will become the first governor in Washington land history to win a fourth term in office if he were to seek it.[6]

Washington is one of few states that holds a peak-two principal, meaning that all candidates are listed on the aforementioned ballot regardless of party affiliation, and the top two motion on to the general election. Most states have party primaries.
