If I Have Minecraft for Xbox Do I Need to Buy It Again

Yous can share games and subscriptions  with family members or friends using the home Xbox characteristic. The  link explaining that is here

The infinitesimal you add together another console and play simultaneously you both demand your own subscriptions and copy of the game. The domicile Xbox characteristic only shares stuff on one panel. Your designated home Xbox console.

Cross play is for specific games like Fortnite and Minecraft.  The feature isn't meant to share games information technology's to be able to play games together on different consoles and devices. Regardless of them being from different manufacturers.

It sounds like all you need to exercise is exist designated as the habitation Xbox and and so have your son play on the panel. While you play on the PC. That would exist the best fashion to play together with the one copy.

The Home setting is what allows you to share games with other accounts on your console. If you purchase Minecraft for the Xbox on your account, you would need to fix the console equally your Home and so your son can play it from there. Or y'all would need to buy it on your son's account and so you don't have to worry virtually the Home setting.

Hey FucStic,

Thank you for reaching out. Disregard anything having to do with the "dwelling house console" feature. This is but required when dealing with more than one console. You should be able to play using the PC/Xbox I as long as you accept both versions of the game which it seems similar you do. :D

Thanks for both replies.  Ane thing that confuses me as you both country I need to set 1 xbox as home...…   I only have i xbox, the other device is PC.   So to play together set the xbox as the 'domicile' even though its the only ane in the house?  then "join" that from the win 10 pc.

does that make sense?

So the Windows ten PC version of Minecraft is a separate "license" from the version on the console.  In other words, yep, you will need to purchase the game twice if you desire to play it on panel and you want to play on PC (there is actually about 7 versions, at that place is too Android, iOS, Kindle, Gear VR, and Nintendo Switch).  All of the versions can play on-line together.  But each version requires a dissever purchase to use.

Once you lot accept the game loaded, the second tab is for "join".  As long as you are friends with your son'due south contour on xbox, if 1 of you has a world launched, the other account should see the ability to "bring together" from the menu.  See below

You lot need to purchase Minecraft on the console also. Minecraft is not a playanywhere title which allows yous to pay once and play on PC and console.

Once y'all take purchased Minecraft on the console y'all would need to add together your sons account equally a friend so you can invite him to a game or vice versa.

The realms subscription is not required unless youu desire to host a persistent world that you or your son tin can bring together aty any fourth dimension

You will demand to own a re-create on both devices to be able to play together.

Windows 10 will only piece of work on PC every bit it is non a play anywhere championship.

Xbox 1 will need to have the bedrock edition of the game to be able to play crossplay with Mobile, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
